In massive sports betting news, industry titan GVC holdings has pulled its sports betting brands from comparison website Oddschecker.
As a result, Coral, Ladbrokes and Betdaq have ceased their relationship with Oddschecker.
The GVC brands will not appear on Oddschecker from the 9th of July 2020. Therefore, many regular users will wonder where they have gone.
Major Affiliate News – Possible Impact on Other Sites
How other operators react remains to be seen. Some may see it as an opportunity as there are fewer competitors with a national profile on the oddschecker grids. Furthermore, there may be openings for home page takeovers and other tenancies.
Some may use this to negotiate fees down with the comparison giant. However, the move away from oddschecker coincides with a $250 million investment into the US facing Roar Digital that GVC has announced along with BetMGM. Perhaps this is the first clear indication of the group’s geographical strategy moving forward.
In summary, the decision may be more to do about the UK market than Oddschecker.
UK Versus US
More and more operators are struggling to maintain profit levels with their UK business given increased UKGC regulation. Many view the US as an opportunity to move into more profitable territory.
It remains to be seen if more coincidences of a similar nature will occur over the coming months.
